The Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) is the apex
body of Singapore’s Co-operative Movement, and secretariat of the Central
Co-operative Fund (CCF). Formed in 1980 with the aim of championing Singapore’s
co-operative movement, the apex body represents 99% of co-operative members in
Singapore through its 66 affiliated co-operatives. Today, the Movement
boasts a base of more than 1.4 million members.
SNCF aims to promote and develop co-operatives as sustainable
enterprises that address social and economic needs through the co-operative
principle of self and mutual help, to foster a more resilient society.
SNCF is a member of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) and
the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). It enjoys co-operative relationship
with the United Nations, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and other
international and regional bodies.
SCOOP is a website, which address to the activities of the Youth, which
SNCP is and has been a part of it is an initiative that promotes youth based
activities that are being held in the Singapore.
Reaching
out to the Youths
The SNCF Campus and Youth Team aims to implement the Campus Strategic
Plan to Educate (advocacy through education industry and stakeholders), to
Explore (raise understanding of the co-op movement, values and principles), and
to Engage (active participation and support from stakeholders to be part of a
co-op) our Youths in the co-operative movement.
In essence, to implement a suite of programs and services, strategically
designed for Youth Development, Youth Engagement, Youth Outreach and Building
Partnerships. Thus, raising the awareness of the co-operative movement amongst
youths and developing sustainable co-operatives/coop clubs.
