NITA (National Indigenous and
Traditional Arts) is located in the city of Nasarpur, in Sindh province,
Pakistan. NITA works for the revival, development and education on traditional
arts. In 2016, it was registered as NITA
Crafts Development Multipurpose Cooperative Society by Co-operation Department
Government of Sindh. For the first time in the history of Sindh, efforts are
being made in the handicraft sector, to enhance the technical approach for
developing quality of Kashi crafts to make them compete with international
standards. In order to do this, the Chairman of the NITA Society Mr. Ghulam
Hyder, has given funds for the installation of Tile Hand Press, Ball Mill,
Modelling Wheel, necessary tools, raw materials and power backup to support the
craftsmen. Gas (LGP plant) plants and high-tech kilns are the biggest
achievements. The gas plant at NITA is the only such plant at Sindh that is
used for the creation of Kashi art pieces. The Chairman also plans to establish
a Crafts Training Institution.
